This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

I've R7000 router with latest firmware installed Firmware Version V1.0.5.70_1.1.91

I've enabled downloader.

But when I upload any torrent file choosing bittorrent file location as PC or even using magnet link vias link option I get message "Incompatible torrent file. This torrent file is not supported by this BT client"

I'm not sure if it needs a torrent file in specific format.

How do I enable this?

Thanks,

Nishant

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

ElaineM,

Thanks for looking into this.

Yes I followed that method step by step before I asked on this forum.

I tried again just to make sure I did not miss anything and still I get same error.

Just to note, in my route page the Downloader is shown as beta and there are small changes in the options available mentioned in the settings. Not sure if this points to any issue.

Just to reiterate my firmware version is

Firmware Version
V1.0.5.70_1.1.91

Thanks,

Nishant

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

this is magnet link for that

magnet:?xt=urn:btih:UJCINEMML5AGSFZNUOSY5CGNYKVDEQ6Z&dn=Zardoz+(1974)+720p+BrRip+x264+YIFY&tr=udp://zer0day.ch:1337/announce&tr=udp://tracker.coppersurfer.tk:6969/announce&tr=udp://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80/announce&tr=udp://glotorrents.pw:6969/announce

it works on bittorrent PC client

I also tried with the torrent file but it did not work.

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

Having the same problem as the OP.

Downloading the torrent file to my desktop and choosing PC in Netgear downloader beta always says invalid link or file when clicking the add button, same happends when pasting in a magnet link.

Yet both methods above work fine on the PC using uTorrent.

R7000

Currently running FW V1.0.7.2_1.1.93

OK, seems to be working now. Grabbed a torrent file from another site and it loaded off the pc no problem.

@nishantgaidhani Did you try a different link? It might be possible that the link was down at that time.

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

@ElaineM I tried again with the new torrent file saved on PC and I got same error that torrent file format is incorrect. When I use that file with bittorrent client on PC, its able to start download correctly.

To me it looks like either the version I'm using has issue or it requires specific format of file which is different than bittorrent file.

Can you please share a bit torrent file you could use succesfully so that I can try that out?

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

I see that the firmware version I've is not latest. I was expecting it to get updated automatically.

Let me try updating that and get back to you.

Re: This torrent file is not supported by this BT client

The file that wouldn't work had .TORRENT at the end. when I changed it to .torrent it worked fine. So it seems the firmware has issues with upper case extensions.

Hope that helps Smiley Happy
