Traffic Meter no working (restarts every day) on Nighthawk R7000

Does anyone know how to set up the Traffic Meter on my Nighthawk R7000? I have noticed it zeros every day, so my Today, This week, and This month values are the same as Today, and my Yesterday and Last Month values are always zero. Am I missing something or is my R7000 defective? I have the latest firmware version V1.0.5.48_1.1.79. By the way, also the date on that page is totally screwed up, it thinks today is Jan 4 2015, maybe this is a clue to what's happening? This is a snapshot:

Hi mokdadali,

Please perform a factory reset on the router and reconfigure manually.

I have done a hard reset a few days ago, but still same issue. It thinks every day is Jan 1-2, so it keeps zeroing every thing, here is a snapshot:

Re: Traffic Meter no working (restarts every day) on Nighthawk R7000

There are lots of things wrong with version 1.0.5.48, I would avoid it like the plague. Given that few people actually use the traffic meter, I would not be surprised if that got broken too.

Try the previous FW 1.0.4.30, and see if that is better. Make sure you reset to factory defaults after loading that firmware, since it has been reported that the settings don't go back very well.

 Hi mokdadali,

Please check the timezone of your device under security>schedule. Make sure you have selected the correct timezone and it will display the correct time and date.

I actually had this problem when I had a lower version, and I only updated the firmware in the hope that it will fix it.

This may actually be related to the issue: I did pick the correct time zone but the time and date are both still wrong. It shows today as January 6, 2015. So actually the time I reset my router to factory defaults upon the first advise on this thread it counted it as 00:00 1/1/2015.

So now the problem is: How to set up the time for this router? Why doesn't it set it up automatically from the internet? (I am not talking about time zone, but the time itself).

Finally, I noticed that on this security>schedule all days and times were "blocked", so I unchecked all in the hope that this might actually fix something.

In my humble opinion, not a very good firmware for top of the line NetGear router!

Most, if not all, Netgear routers are hard coded to fetch time via NTP from Netgear's servers (time-a.netgear.com through time-h.netgear.com).  Unfortunately, I don't know how the router picks which server to use.

Make sure you can reach their servers.

Windows:

w32tm /stripchart /computer:time-a.netgear.com /dataonly /samples:5
Tracking time-a.netgear.com [209.249.181.52:123].
Collecting 5 samples.
The current time is 12/20/2015 10:20:17 AM.
10:20:17, -02.6018020s
10:20:19, -02.6022491s
10:20:21, -02.6024490s
10:20:23, -02.6027471s
10:20:25, -02.6030302s

Mac:

ntpdate -q time-a.netgear.com
server 209.249.181.52, stratum 1, offset 0.227220, delay 0.03175
20 Dec 09:10:58 ntpdate[98942]: adjust time server 209.249.181.52 offset 0.227220 sec

If you can't reach their servers, then something, like your ISP modem/gateway is blocking NTP.

I am able to reach both servers, they seem to show the right time (not sure about meaning of +25.xxx at the end):

Re: Traffic Meter no working (restarts every day) on Nighthawk R7000

I believe the +25.xxx is the delta between your computer's clock and the server's.

I don't know why your router isn't picking up the correct date.

Can you try to reflash the firmware and reset it to factory default.

Re: Traffic Meter no working (restarts every day) on Nighthawk R7000

Is that the same as just pressing the reset pin in the back of the unit for 10 seconds or do you suggest I do something else as well? Because that's what I did a week ago.
