The problem is that he had it registered on https://www.netgear.com/mynetgear and now i cannot registereit myslef. We spend 2 days lookign for a way to deregistered it from his account but no luck.
Is there any way for me to register this router myslef?
Thank you in advance!

Re: Unable to Register R9000 router - Alredy Registered
Welcome to the Netgear Community!
Unfortunately, in general the warranty and free support services are not transferable with Netgear, and are available to the initial buyer only. We can try to challenge Netgear @Christian_R for a possible courtesy transfer service.
This doesn't have any impact on e.g. App based Remote Administration, Remote access, ReadyShare USB Disk sharing with ReadyCloud access - all this can be reconfigured to your needs following a factory reset (in case this wasn't done after taking it over from your friend).

Re: Unable to Register R9000 router - Alredy Registered
Hi Kurt,
Thanks a milion for this, i was told that in order to gain access to the apps for phones you needed the product register.
I have the router up and running and would like to be a proper customer of netgear as i love the product, andi had to buy it off my friend as i wasnt aware of hte transfer ofcourse and its not cheap.
Best Regards,
NIko

Re: Unable to Register R9000 router - Alredy Registered
Uh - thank you for the reminder. Forgot to mention Netgear seems to have inherited some faux logic in the Apps implying the product owner (warranty) and the other access - another one for @Christian_R that alone should allow your product transferred! For the moment, start the configuration with the Web based access from a computer.

Re: Unable to Register R9000 router - Alredy Registered
Appreciated,
@Christian_R can you please push the problem that a second hand device can't be configured by the Apps (as shown in the QSG) if the device is registered to another user MyNetgear account?
TIA,

Re: Unable to Register R9000 router - Alredy Registered
Hello,
I am in a similar situation as I bought a "new" Netgear Nighthawk XR700 router off of eBay, and cannot register it. ("Product is already registered to another customer.")
I've PM'd Christian as well -- thankful for any help you can provide!
