Unable to Rename Attached Devices

I cannot rename attached devices.

Viewing the "Attached Devices" page.

CHeck box a Device, the "Edit".

I will make a simple change as in the "Device Name", then "Apply"

When the page refreshes there is no change.

THen I force a "Refresh" and the Device Name will still not change.

This is the same for any device and any field in the attached devices.

What can I do to get this to work?

Thanks

Re: Unable to Rename Attached Devices

Not a solution but a clue.   I removed all the ethernet connections on the back of the router and then I was able to Rename a wireless attached device.  When I reattached the 4 ethernets I was no longer able to rename the wireless attached device nor another other.  The one thing I have not tried is to restore the router to factory settings but I dont want to do that because I thnk it will cause more problems for me.  In all my research there is no way to report the issue to Netgear if the router is past 90 days.

Do you have a Roku device attached to the network?

Re: Unable to Rename Attached Devices

So I was eventually able to update the names by "gaming" the system. I had to go into each connected device and actually set an icon and then change the name. It appears there when trying to save without one selected fails. This appears to be a bug in the code.

I'll take this time to also point out the options for icons are horrible. Very limited.

Re: Unable to Rename Attached Devices

There are kind of systematical issues with your router firmware, some API, and probably the mobile App API if involved. The community is full with similar reports - almost every Netgear router does behave a little bit different, also depending on the number of attached devices. One more for the Netgear router buglist @Christian_R

PS. the duplicated entries on the same subject by the same users should be merged - this is a pain and a wast of time.

Same problem! AC1900 R7000 Firmware version V1.0.9.88_10.2.88

Not possible to change names or edit.
Also the email settings / messaging will not stay and it will not work either.
It also does not work after a full reset!
