Unable to get r7000 into reset mode to re-flash bios to OEM from DD-WRT

Have a r7000-AC1700 that curently has DD_WRT on it and I am trying to flash it back to the original OEM initial release of Netgear BIOS
I am unable to get the R7000/AC1900 to go into reset to allow for a TFTP file transfer to flash the firmware
R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.0.96
also have tried others
When trying from the GUI and using the initial release version it fails so I am trying to force the flash
I have watched several videos and methods on how to get into reset mode but none work
1- Hold the reset for 30sec and wait for the power light to start to flash - just stick in a reboot cycle
2- Hold the reset for 30sec then pull power wait 30sec and power back - same result
With the DD-WRT I can use the router without issue, just need to get back to OEM OS to upgrade and flash to Tomato
Any thoughts?

I'd ask on the dd-wrt forum. They're the experts on their firmware and how best to remove it without bricking your device.

Re: Unable to get r7000 into reset mode to re-flash bios to OEM from DD-WRT
Since there is no back to stock firmware listed this may mean that Brainslayer has added code to reinstall Netgear firmware. Have you tried to install a Netgear firmware?
2 Years ago I wound up having to use a serial to USB cable to reinstall Netgear firmware. I never got tftp to work to get back to Netgear. Yes I have successfully used tftp when the firmware was Netgear, to answer those that ask have you ever successffully done a tftp. 😉

Thanks for the response, I get posting on the dd-wrt forum, but the issue is that the r7000 will not go into reset mode.I cant get the power light to blink orange.
That is the real issue.

Re: Unable to get r7000 into reset mode to re-flash bios to OEM from DD-WRT
Got it up and running, Ill update how it goes...my hope is that flashing this back into OEM firware then to advanced tomato I moght be able to get ride of the issue that netgear does not want to admit to with the G5 wireless always failing
Thought that I resolved it with the dd-wrt but issue persisted, has to be hardware. If the Tomato does nto fix it then its going in the trash

Re: Unable to get r7000 into reset mode to re-flash bios to OEM from DD-WRT
OH its far from fixed, now have to see if the Advanced Tomato help with thnotoriously disapearring 5GWiFi issue that Netgear fails to acknowledge and either fix or admit that there is a hardware issue with the R7000
