Update interupted
Hi. I was updating the firmware on my Nighthawk R8000 and my daughter thought the wifi wasn't working so she restarted the router. I'm not sure what to do now to get it to finish the update. Thanks.

Re: Update interupted
I wonder if it's ruined. I saw somewhere that the firmware update cannot be interupted. I've tried the reset...nothing happens.

Re: Update interupted
Hi TexasCy,
If you can still log in to the the R8000 admin page after the reboot then you are good to continue and finish the update. If not, I regret to say that it is possible the router might have been brick because firmware update got interrupted in the process. However, you could do a firmware recovery, here is a link by NETGEAR:

Re: Update interupted
I can't login to the R8000 admin page. Thank you for the link! I will look into this.

Re: Update interupted
Yes, that should help you recover your router to a working firmware. However, you will need to redo your router settings as that will likely clear all your previous settings.

That is seriously bad news. The R8000 may be terminally dead.
Is the power LED sitting there blinking and going nowhere? That is a sign of firmware problems.
As well as the other suggestions, you may have to resort to something like this:
How to upload firmware to a NETGEAR router using TFTP | Answer | NETGEAR Support
It is probably the only way you will get anywhere of a factory reset fails.
My network DM200 -> R7800 -> GS316 -> PL1000 -> Orbi RBR40 -> Orbi RBS50Y -> RBS40V
