VPN Site to Site with OpenWRT Router -Really solved !

Hi,

Looking to post :

R7000 VPN Site to Site with OpenWRT Router

https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000-VPN-Site-to-Site-with-OpenWRT-Router/m-p/1212779

As I had same issue (willing) to connect 2 LANs over VPN, Netgear R7000 at home (central point) and OpenWRT router (at remote / holiday site).

The proposed "solution" (We do not support site to site OpenVPN configuration. The R7000 OpenVPN implementation is only for server to client configurations.) is absolutely NO solution !

After MANY tests, the TRUE solution is (as in many cases) that simple (at least one of them) ...
- Configure Netgear VPN to access "Home Network only"
- Configure both LAN with SAME IP subnet (and mask)
- Ensure they don't have / share / assign same IP addresses (to avoid conflics) by :
  + Assigning differrent fixed IP@
+ Defining non overlapping DCHP IP@ ranges
  + Same for static DHCP
- Configure VPN in Brigde mode
- Block (filter) DCHP traffic (to avoid one side providing IP @ to other)
And you're in business !
You can acces resources / devices on other LAN at Layer 3 (IP@) or Layer 2 (DLNA, ...) and in both directions !

Nice, isn't it ?
Have fun :-)
