WD My Passport portable storage to an iMac. Connecting to readyshare server is not working.

Following these instructions (https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R6900v2/R6900v2_UM_EN.pdf PG 97), I plugged my WD My Passport into the USB 3.0 port of my R6900/AC1900 Router. At my iMac, I then went to Finder>Go>Connect to Server when the window opened, I typed "smb://readyshare" into the Server Address Field. Immediately, there was an error.

The error message is: "There was a problem connecting to the server "readyshare". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."

I copied that message into a search engine and got this community post. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Can-not-connect-to-Time-Machine-on-USB-3-0/m...  I attempted to connect to the afp://routerlogin.net someone suggested and nothing happened; not even the login window the user said would pop up.

I also got this article. https://kb.netgear.com/19948/Map-to-a-ReadySHARE-Drive-in-OS-X-with-Auto-Reconnect-after-Reboot. I attempted to connect to smb://192.168.1.1/USB_Storage and received the same error as before only with "192.168.1.1" as the server.

If I go into my router via my web browser, and go to Advanced Setup>USB Settings I see "Enable any USB Device connected to the USB port" with a y/n function and an "Approved Devices" function. Clicking into "Approved Devices" I can see the My Passport device, but nothing I do in both these screens can make it transition from "Available USB Devices" to "Approved USB Devices", and nothing I do is able to make my computer connect with the smb://readyshare server.

Still in my router, if I go into Advanced>USB Storage>ReadySHARE and play with enabling/disabling the different Access Methods and trying to connect to those servers, I get various errors:

http://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares --- "There was a problem connecting to the server "readyshare.routerlogin.net" Contact your system administrator for more information.

There was a https IP address I'm not going to list because I'm not sure its secure. That had the same error message as above.

ftp://readyshare.routerlogin.net/shares --- opens up the window to sign in, but whether I attempt to log in as the registered user, or as a guest, I get "There was a problem connecting to the server "readyshare.routerlogin.net". This file server will not allow any additional users to log on. Try to connect again later."

There was a ftp IP address that I'm also not going to list for security. That had the same message as above.

If I go into the ReadyCLOUD tab and enter my ReadyCLOUD username and password, I get a 403 Forbidden error.

At this point, I have no other ideas on how to solve this issue, and I'm hoping there's something more in the Advanced functions of the router to get it working.

Thanks!
