Waiting Error https://rc-z2-r1-i1.io.netgear.com ReadyShare

Firmware Version
V1.0.9.88_10.2.88

[Still having this problem, was never fixed]

My original open ticket https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/ReadyCloud-Send-link-to-friend-to-download-f...

I believe this started happening after my firware upgrade.

But when I log into Netgear ReadyCloud and create a link (HTTP link) to a file and send it to a friend they can not download the file (file on attached USB drive). I've tried it myself I get the same error "waiting for connection https://rc-z2-r1-i1.io.netgear.com". This has always worked before.

In another thread folks said it was a DNS server issue but their URL was  https://rc-z2-r1-i2.io.netgear.com   mine url has i1 not i2, can someone check the DNS server.

FIXED:

Firmware - R7000-V1.0.9.88_10.2.88

Ok this was the problem. My root directory had a apostrophe in it;

for example -> \Sam's Laptop Backup  changing it to \Sams Laptop Backup fixed the issue. There must have been a change in the firmware that no longer allowed apostrophes, the apostrophe was always there. During early testing I was able to revert back to an earlier firmware version and it worked.

There are numberious problems with the .88 firmware. Am assuming this is a r7000, the a7000 in your sig is an adapter. If so best is to downgrade to .42 of the firmware.

Meyersw, thanks for your suggestion though it didn't work but any help is much appreciated so thanks. I'm really disappoint with Netgear - that Firmware updates have caused my router to rot, or decay. I discovered last-night that I can't even download documents from ReadyCloud (I can login), I get the same error - waiting on the URL (https://rc-z2-r1-i1.io.netgear.com). Netgear want's me to purchase a support package to get it fixed - I'd rather spend that money on a different solution.

I know it is expensive, but I would suggest the different solution would be a different brand of router. Netgear for the past year has not be able to put out firmware that is not prone to issues. The seem to have gone with a 3rd party off shore organization for firmware. There appears to be no oversite, no testing to see that bugs are fixed, no QA. Just one junk firmware update after another. Sold my r8000 and r8000p due to ongoing, and not end in site, issues and moved on. Would suggest you do the same.

Still no soulution or word from Netgear.

Steps I've tried.

1) Latest Firmware - V1.0.9.88 - no luck.

2) unregister USB drive from ReadyCloud. Then re-register the drive. Did not work.

3) Reset R7000 to factory settings. No luck still did not work

@Dan001, I would hazard a guess this is a f/w issue. NG has quite a few with that version.

I'd suggest going back to V1.0.9.42 and seeing if that fixes it.

NG did removed features from V1.0.9.88. They originally didn't even have in the REAKME file EVERYTHING that was removed... like DLNA for instance, and possible something else that might bread something.

I'd back-level the f/w and if it works turn off AUTO-UPDATE or you be back with the problem soon.

If that does solve the problem, realize you'll be 'stuck' at that f/w level and miss some future fixes/update, especially security ones. Only solution, but a different vendor's router. That is what I did.

Totally agree. Netgear, IHMO, will never get their act together firmware wise. Some issues are over a year old and multiple firmware updates without a fix. Getting a new router from different vendor is an expensive solution, but suspect a better end result. That is what I did as well.

If you want a cloud backup there are a number of them out their. I personally use iDrive. Everything is backed up and when I had a SSD fail recently everything was restored without issue.

I stayed with it as long as I could. Waiting and waiting for old problems fixed on the R8000 (and the R7000 before it). Reports here of just the same problems over and over again, never fixed in releases. Then the 'straw that broke the camels back' so to speak. The REMOVAL of features I bought the router because of, in my case, DLNA...

How could a company 'screw' users without regard to why they might have purchased the router? No conscience at all? Worse, to do that they had to because they wanted to include Armour, as RAM space was probably needed. Why? A constant MONEY STREAM for them, PURE GREED!!!!

Product STILL IN STORES still list the features removed. They didn't recall store inventory to replace them with new product detailing Armour and not listing the removed features. This was NOT well planned, that is for sure.

That is just so wrong. Someone buys the router wanting/needing a feature listed on the box. What is the first thing folks tell you to do with a new router? Right update to the latest firmware. Pouf there went the feature you bought the router for. Netgear is failing right now in so many ways. I agree that Armor looks like a money grab.

I cannot in good conscience recommend a Netgear router to friend or enemy. They have similar issues on the Arlo side of the house. They have never updated their web interface. It is dependent on flash player for the videos of your camera to be viewed. That should have been corrected a long time ago. Chrome is posting a notice that flash player will not be supported after December 2020. So Netgear is a failure right now all around. At least they are consistent. Smiley Happy
