Weird occurrence with portforwarding

Been trying to portfoward 27000-27050 for steam connections. The problem that I am actually having is that connections to game servers on steam are around 500+ ping. I plug it into modem, connections around 60 ping. Figured out I had connected the port to the wrong IP the whole time, switched it to the correct IP and it started working for maybe a whole 2 minutes then reverted back to the same problem. I don't understand what happened.

Re: Weird occurrence with portforwarding

Have you test with DMZ for server ?

Some of the game server gets a hits from many of other server and may flooding the router.

You can also try disable SPI or DoS ( you will find only either one) and that may help from firewall on the router to choke up

Sadly steam doesn't allow play through with DMZ servers. I have also tried disabling the DoS firewall but still, no luck.

Re: Weird occurrence with portforwarding

Found the fix with the help of Netgear support.

The issue was that my computer IP was continuously changing.
Add a reserved IP for your computer and change the portforwarding to that reserved IP.

Everything appears to work now. Thank you for the help!
