What's the best way to configure an R8000 router with an R7000 access point and a Fios Gateway AP

I have a relatively large home which requires wireless coverage on 3 floors.  I am trying to figure out the best way to configure an R8000 as a router, an R7000 as an access point, and a Fios Quantum Gateway G1100 as an access point and MoCA interface to Fios set-top boxes.  I have already had Verizon change the ONT WAN interface from coax to Ethernet. I am operating on the assumption that the R8000 will do a better job routing than the Fios Gateway.  I generally understand and have already configured all of the devices to use the same SSID and password.  I also understand that all the devices should be set to operate on different channels to avoid interfering with each other.  However, I would like to use the tri-band capability of the R8000 and the dual-band capability on the R7000 to maximize bandwidth. The devices seem to use a range of channels in the "Smart Connect" mode.  I am unclear how to configure all of the devices to maximize bandwidth while preventing the radios from interfering with each other.  Any suggestions?  Lastly, are there any free or inexpensive apps to survey the wireless signals at different points around my home that will help me optimize the wireless settings?  Many thanks for any suggestions anyone can provide!

Is the ISP modem/router running in full transparent bridge mode? If so, then you could use the R8000 as your main host router and could use the R7000 as a remote LAN to LAN 2nary AP. I don't think the R7000 has smart connect for use with one SSID so you would probably have to set up separate SSIDs for both R8000 and R7000 and ensure that far channel separation is seen between the R8000 and R7000 on each 2.4 and 5Ghz radio.

R8000 use channel 11 on 2.4Ghz and R7000 use channel 1 on 2.4Ghz.


If the ISP modems isn't bridged, you can leave it and use it's DMZ for the R8000 IP address it gets from the modem. Helps in limiting a double nat condition. Just disable any wireless on this modem if theres any.
