Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

They're probably hoping that the market is going to shift away from using mobile devices...

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

I really hope they will update the firmware to support VPN for iOS or Andriod devices.... what's the purpose of having a VPN service in the router when it is not supporting mobile devices? That's bad especially when the owners of this router seeing other later developed products also supports mobile devices...

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

I'll give it a week or 2 - they have promissed a solution  for more than a year.....

If not I'll just have to go back to Asus again - can still return the router.......

But crossing my fingers !

To JamesGl

Since You have answered other questions - why are You ignoring this?

Is it about time to tell the truth - will there be a update? Yes/no.

Should we buy a different router?

A answer is better than NO answer.

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

Wow - never believed that it would actually be implemented. Glad for you R8000 users. But as a R7500 owner I'm still disappointed - it's been set to EOL just 1.5 year after release and now not receiving any updates.

Sure - everyone keeps buying new routers every year, like they do with smartphones - not.

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

R7500 is EOL? What about R7000?

Are you joking about the R7500. It true I think the only reason is NG f up something, can't fix it or refuse to as not cost effective for NG, so basically s on people who bought it IMO.

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

Unfortunately I'm not. A mod wrote that in the R7500 thread. No updates anymore. Think they dropped the WiFi implementation and switched to a different supplier with the R7500v2. Seems to be incompatible due to the drivers.

Whatever - I bought that thing 8 months after release, just to find out a few months later that support has been dropped.

Netgear - never again.

Contact the BBB and file a complaint and they may be able to help you get a v2.

Appears we have another never ending story with Netgear's router PM and PLM management failures. I'm impressed [not], Netgear....

Re: When R8000 firmware with IOS support for OpenVPN?

The R7500 is going on 3 years old. Not unusual to drop development at about 2-3 years.
