WiFi speed drops every few days

R7000P Firmware Version V1.3.1.44_10.1.23

5GHz WiFi speed drops to less than 5 Mbps every few days.

I visit the admin page, wireless, apply.

Speed jumps back up to 75Mbps (my cable speed).

I've read only one old closed post on this topic.

I think this has been the same through different firmware levels, but I'm not sure.

WiFi Analyzer on Android always suggests a better channel, but the only other 5GHz radio is an EX7000 WiFi extender, which always follows my channel choice.

The signal level remains strong, at -50 dBm where I am right now.

I reset to factory before I applied this firmware level, and once since.

Is this a hardware problem?

Good luck. With what I observed with a r8000 and r8000p getting a quality fix is next to if not impossible. Have seen bad firmware build from other vendors, but have never seen such consistantly bad firmware over various releases as Netgear has been for the last year.

Re: WiFi speed drops every few days

Wow, I just bought this router last week and have this exact problem!

On my PC I get 48Mbps and only 10Mbps on the WiFi.  I tried your "Wireless->Apply" trick and then the speed was back up to 45Mbps!

Did you ever find a solution?  I don't want to have to go into the settings and reset the WiFi every day!!!

Good tip, at least I'm 1 step better than before being stuck on 10Mbps!

Thanks!

Loz
