Re: Will using an ethernet switch make my nighthawk useless?

An Ethernet switch can be considered as a way to expand the number of available Ethernet ports on the router - it won't prevent the router from operating normally - and is unlikely to make it useless.

Be sure to use a gigabit switch and not a fast Ethernet.

And also check if the ethernet switch supports QoS.

rofl, why ? Unless you need the speed, a 100Mbs will do the job.

A gigabit Ethernet switch will allow for much faster LAN to LAN and WLAN to LAN transfers and is in any case consistent with the fact that the router’s switch is also gigabit. Why buy a 10/100 switch when the cost of gigabit is not much more?
