Windows won't allow Private network after installing Nighthawk CAX80
I have 2 machines running Windows 11 Home. After a recent upgrade of my cable modem and router to a Nighthawk AX8/8 (CAX80), Windows will no longer retain the change in designating the network as Private rather than Public.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure how you think a windows settings not being retained is related to the router.

Before installation of the CAX80 the network setting on both machines was Private. After installation, both were set as Public. Since no OS or other software change occurred, a causal relationship must be suspected.

when you change networks, windows default setting is for a public network with all new networks.
Thats it trying to protect your data. But you have to go in and change it.
If windows isn't letting you change it, thats a problem in windows.
