X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router

I purchased the Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router and the ARRIS SURFboard 32 x 8 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem.  I registered the modem with Cox Cable, downloaded the Nighthawk app, hooked everything up and...no joy.

The router is not getting internet.  I double-checked with Cox and the modem is receiving the internet.

Ideas?
Are there any known compatability issues with the router and modem?

Any help is much appreciated.

I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.

My Setup (Cable 1Gbps/50Mbps)>CAX80 v2.1.2.1(LAG Disabled)>RBK853 v4.6.3.16

Re: X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router

First ac4000 is not a router model number just a performance number. Look at the label on the router and you should see something normally starting with a R. So please provide that plus the current firmware version, number not something like latest.

With a new modem and router to be setup you need to do things in proper order.

Power off both modem and router.

Power on modem and let it stablize, maybe 5 minutes or so.

Power on router.

Router should at this point when finished powering up connect to modem and Internet.

Re: X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 5 Router

The model number is R8000PNAS-009.
I am unable to find anything about the firmware.

I have tried both suggestions and am still unable to connect the internet - the light on the Nighthawk stays red.

More then one light, so which is red? Use the link to get to get your router's user manual. In there will be a write up about the lights and what the colors mean. Put in your router's model number and you will be taken to location to download the user manual
