ac2300 firmware install procedure

I have downloaded the latest firmware update to my mac... does it automatically go to the router? How do I know if it was successfully updated?

What, exactly, did you download from where?  Did you see a Release
Notes file (which includes instructions) there?

No.  This stuff is only computers, not magic.

> How do I know if it was successfully updated?

Visit the router's built-in web site, log in, and look at the
firmware version displayed by the router's management interface.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "Update the
Router Firmware".  While you're there, under Downloads, and Firmware and
Software Downloads, find the kit(s).  Download the kit you want.  Read
the "Release Notes" file (available on the web page, and included in the
kit) for instructions.

Re: ac2300 firmware install procedure

thanks for yiour help so far... I downloaded it from downloads on community page

When I try to log into the router site or my nighthawk app on my phone, they first ask for my admin password, which I dont have. When I ask it to send me one, it asks for my answers to two quesitons, which I dont know, because I  never set this up. So I try to create a new account, and it says sorry you already have an account.

Haaalp. I know this is all for better router security, but I am really stuck here!

Still wondering.  "community page" is not a very detailed description
of anything.

Did you do that?  Did you look at the User Manual?

> When I try to log into the router site [...]

What, exactly, does "the router site" mean to you?  Something like
"routerlogin.net"?  I'd stick with the web browser, and avoid any apps
until you get the basic stuff to work.

> [...] they first ask for my admin password, which I dont have.

As the User Manual says, the default "admin" password is "password".

> [...] but I am really stuck here!

Many people find reading the User Manual to be helpful.
