are the Nighthawk R7000 and Nighthawk C7000 comparable

I have Cableone internet and one of their recommended compatible wifi routers is the Netgear Nighthawk C7000. Cableone doesn't list the Nighthawk R7000 as a compatible model. But I found the R7000 on sale about $60 cheaper than the C7000. Will the R7000 be acceptable/desirable to use instead of the more expensive C7000? Thank you.

Re: are the Nighthawk R7000 and Nighthawk C7000 comparable

Define "comparable".  They're not interchangeable.  The C7000 is a
cable-TV modem+router; the R7000 is a router (with no modem).

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number(s), and
look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual(s).  Compare.

Different animals. R7000 = router. C7000 = cable modem/router.

A lot of people like to keep router and modem separate. Routers are generally more versatile than modem/routers.

Netgear puts more effort into keeping routers up to date. And in the case of cable modem/router you are in the hands of the Internet service provider when it comes to firmware updates.

If you like the idea of the R7000 then you could put a basic modem only device in front of the router.

You might even get a modem for $60, although I wouldn't expect much for that price.

Just another user.
