auto update of ip by DDNS?
My external ip changes periodically. I have set to use the service of dyndns. However the is no "update now" option for instant update, nor place to set the autoupdate period.
Does r7500 know when to update my ip automatically?
Many thanks.
Alex

Re: auto update of ip by DDNS?
If the function operates correctly then it should send data when your WAN IP changes, but I have never been sure if it also sends a ‘refresh’ update every 30 or so days to keep the account active, though if you have a paid DynDNS account that should not be an issue.

If you are using no-ip netgear DDNS then after you log into your no-ip free account you will need to download their "Dynamic DNS Update Client" I have a Macbook Pro and the link for that is:
https://www.noip.com/download?page=mac
and for Windows:
https://www.noip.com/download?page=win
It will auto check and update you can set the time frame.

Re: auto update of ip by DDNS?
I run a DDNS client on a PC since that PC is always powered on, a security monitoring PC. But for people who don’t want to have a PC always powered on then there are few options available other than to use the router’s DDNS function.
I agree that DDNS client applications are good, and generally more useful that router based DDNS refresh functions, they will for example often send an e-mail on an IP address change which can be useful.
