c7000v2 - Slow speed issue - is Factory reset advisable?

c7000v2 - Slow speed issue - is Factory reset advisable?

The ISP (Suddenlink) was quick point the finger at my c7000v2 for the issue that just started today.   My plan is only 30Mb down/2Mb up (all that I can get here) but the current speed is around 2Mb up/down.

I get random ping time-outs for from the router to anything outside, such as google 8.8.8.8

Suddenlink wanted me to do a factory reset on the router, but I failed see why that would be necessary, when I can't get a successful ping.

They are scheduling an onsite tech 2 days from now.

I'm thinking they will charge me for the service call if the issue is with my equipment.

You thoughts on whether a factory reset could possibly resolve this issue.

Thanks

Above is the log info pertinent to the connection and attached are two Connection page screenshots.

I was able to take this unit outside and connect directly to the ISP cable coming out of the ground.  The Max speed was 7Mb down/1.5Mb up. (wifi)

I brought back in, did a factory reset and getting slower results. 3.7Mb down/2Mb up; (wifi)

Wired in-house was slower at 1.5MB down/2Mb up

I'm still in the camp that this is an ISP issue.

A couple things I'd try.

first get screen snip of the cable connections page and event logs and attach them here.

Then check your line for splitters, amplifiers, or signal attenuators. remove them if there are any.

Preferrably, move the modem right to where the coax comes into the home. This prevents any of the wiring internal to your home from being the issue. It also limits what suddenlink can blame things on.

Once thats done, test your speeds and repost the new cable connections page and event logs.

A factory reset is never a bad idea. Unless you have a ton of address reservations. If you do, simply make a backup before the factory reset. Then after its reset, test the speeds and if they're fine, reinstall your backup and test them again.

There are no splitters, amplifiers, or signal attenuators between the router and the demarc.

I'm going to test from demarc this evening and get back with you.

grab those screen snips. It helps for checking the signal.

I'm in your camp as well. Your power levels are way out of spec and you have a ton of errors in your line.

The issue resovled itself overnight, so I cancelled the ISP Tech visit.

Thanks for your time on this topic.
