comtrend nexuslink 5631 connected to r7500 bad idea?

I have Adsl internet 20/1 and I want to increase Wi-Fi range with r7500 but don't want to increase lag considering the connection is going through a Ethernet cable to the r7500's wan port and I thought if it's going through two routers it would lag.

Set up the R7000 as an AP and connect its WAN port to your main router via Ethernet.  The lag should be minimal.

I don't see how enabling AP mode would disable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.  Make sure the radio is enabled in Advanced Wireless Settings and SSID Broadcast is enabled in Basic Wireless Settings.  Or do a factory reset and try enabling AP mode again.
