connecting nighthawk wifi router r800p and xbox directly to cable modem cm1200
I am trying to connect my wifi router to the cable modem to provide wifi for my house while simultaneously connecting my Xbox directly to cable modem. The modem either supplies internet to the xbox or the wifi router but not both. Is there a way to do this? I figured there are multiple ports on the modem I could connect both.
thank you

Re: connecting nighthawk wifi router r800p and xbox directly to cable modem cm1200
No there isn't.
Netgear and ISP's don't do a good job of explaining the CM1200. Its got 4 ethernet ports but the average user can only use 1.
Some users can use 2 if they have a router that supports wan port aggregation. port 1 & 2.
Some can use all 4 if they pay for a business class line or multiple public IP addresses.
and there's a few random ISP's that do support multipe public ip address.
But the majority of isp's don't allow more than 1 public ip address so you can use more than 1 device. (comcast, cox, spectrum, etc)
