how to connect and access Samsung T5 SSD on my R8000

i have a R8000 router.  I am trying to connect Samsung T5 SSD, 500GB, to back of router, USB 3 port.

But, cannot see it connected, in ReadyCloud, or access from any other device, such as a Samsung Smart TV or my iPhone, etc.

I have tried to follow the directions, but they are woefully inadequate.

A couple things.

1. have you checked to see if its compatible with your router?

If its not on the list, it might still work.

2. Is the hard drive in the correct format?

The Samsung T5, I have one, it’s comes default formatted to exFAT which is not supported by the router. You need to format it as any of the following; NTFS, FAT32, EXT2 or EXT4 for it to work.

Here’s actually the full list of supported formats:
FAT16, FAT32
NTFS
NTFS with compression format enabled
Ext2, Ext3, Ext4
XFS
HFS
HFS+

exFAT is slowly being added to the Linux 5.4/5.5 Kernels in the latest versions so maybe NG may backport it in the future once it’s stable/good enough. The RAX120 I believe uses Linux Kernel 4.4.60.
