i have a question abour my netgear router r7000

on r7000 is that possible to limited speed for some devices that connect to router?

the first thing i want to know is am i possible to see what internet speed they are using for all devices that connect to router? i know i can see which devices is connect to router, but i didnt see any where that i can find out what Mbytes they are using now.

if i can check what mbytes they are using, is there any way limited speed use for specific devices?

Hi @117805363,

Welcome to Community!

You can setup QoS to prioritize devices or even applications. In QoS, you can set low to high priority in bandwidth. For bandwidth monitoring, there is a traffic meter but it will monitor or limit the bandwidth as a whole but not per device.

Re: i have a question abour my netgear router r7000

i understand that i cant limit speed per device. but am i able to see what speed all devices are using by individually.

How do I enable upstream quality of service (QoS) to optimize gaming on my Nighthawk router?

by enable upstream quality of game. does it detect what all devices? or game system just like xbox, ps4? because i use computer to play game, not game system.

The R7000 cannot report bandwidth usage for individual devices. There is, however, 3rd party firmware that can provide it.

To enable upstream QoS, go to ADVANCED > Setup > QoS Setup > Upstream QoS. Check Enable Upstream QoS. Set the Uplink bandwidth to a value no greater than your Internet uplink speed. There's no hard and fast rule but try setting it to 90% or 95% of your uplink speed. Click Apply to save the settings.

You can customize the QoS settings by clicking on Setup QoS rule. You can set up rules for well-known applications, games, UDP/TCP port numbers, LAN ports or MAC addresses. For each rule, you specify a priority (high, normal or low). You could, for example, create a MAC address rule to always prioritize your computer. Or you could create a rule to only prioritize a specific game if you don't want non-game traffic from your computer to be given high priority.
