loosing internet connection many times. Having to reboot router constantly
I loose connection many times on my 2g wify. 5g is much more stable. I have all devices except for the TV connected to the 2g. TV is connected to the 5g.
I have to reboot the router on a semi regular basis. It is one year old.
Anything I can do to prevent this from happening? I do not have support privileges with Netgear.
Thanks
Pedro

Re: loosing internet connection many times. Having to reboot router constantly
What firmware is installed?
What modem is it connected to?
have you tried changing wifi channels? Maybe there's interference.
If your devices support 5ghz, might be a good idea to connect them to it. 2.4ghz is more sensitive to interference, is lower bandwidth, and tends to have more devices in the area broadcasting/causing more interference.

Re: loosing internet connection many times. Having to reboot router constantly
I have tried doing what you said and I still have issues with the signal dropping off. Originally I was showing "very good" signal when I checked status. Lately I am getting only a "fair" signal. Placement of the router has not changed. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have the latest firmware and the modem is Spectrum. No other identifying marks.
Thanks for getting back to me.

"the latest" isn't always the latest. Or it changes. and we do it to help future people who are reading these for help.
what firmware are you on?
And the modem will have a model number on it. Look at the label.
spectrum is horrible at locking down their devices so end users can't check signal strength. But they still have a model number

Re: loosing internet connection many times. Having to reboot router constantly
Thanks for your response.
Firmware I currently have is v.1.0.4.84
Looking at Modem, nothing shows model number. I have the CM Mac D89C67E07AB1
MTA Mac D89C67E07AB2
s/n: H8S7M21025032
H/W version 2.72.3
MO: P/N: U10C135.50
E31U2V1 (model number??)
These are all the numbers on the Modem.
Again, I really appreciate it.

Thanks again for responding.
The firmware version you mention is in the Netgear website or do I do it via Nighthawk? Also, will the devices connected to the router be affected by the change?
I appreciate your help.

it'll be on the support site for your device under downloads-----> +view previous versions
https://www.netgear.com/support/
If you re-install it using your old ssid/password info, the other devices should all auto-reconnect.
**edited to change link. had the worng device
