OS is Windows 10. I noticed that the nighthawk R7000P AC2300 had an firmware upgrade notice. the upgrade was for the 1.3.1.44 version.
I don't remember what the old version was , I know the last numbers were 1.23.
I closed out all the programs. went to the netgear gui on the taskbar and had clicked on prompts to download the firmware.
the download wasn't successful. it tells me that the d/l failed.
the red lights (power) were slowly blinking.
I have tried resetting it. did not work.
I have also tried to log on from the firefox browser using the www,routerlogin.net link. that did not work.
it appears that the router has been bricked.

Re: night hawk R7000p firmware upgrade failure
If you want even more fun do the tftp procedure on a MAC laptop. Need Ethernet USB dongle to start with.

Re: night hawk R7000p firmware upgrade failure
that link did the trick.
some of the other tips weren't clear or confusing on where to go to change the IP address.
that document could be a little bit more clearer on the setting of the TFTP IP address and on which router port to use during TFPT; that part wasn't clear also.
thanx.

Not sure which link you mean – you haven't marked the relevant message as Solved – but it is hard to disagree with this bit:

TFTP isn't meant for amateurs like us. But it can be the only way out of a hole.
Glad it worked out in the end.
