r7800 Internet connected IP address messages

I'm constantly seeing (every 5 minutes)  [Internet connected] IP address: XXXXXX

on my router.  the Wifi clients are forced to reconnect happens on both 2.4 & 5Ghz

I'm wondering if it's an issue with the firmware or on the ISP side. My firmware version is:

V1.0.2.60 and I connect to a 1GB Fibre.  I can't imagine the ISP to expire leases every 5 minutes.  Read in other threads that using .52 may help.

Any advice?

Re: r7800 Internet connected IP address messages

I have a reset of the IP Address happening via my MODEM... (Spectrum is the ISP). Router log shows it happening as does the modem log (I can see mine using the URL of 191.168.100.1 (need UID and P/W, Google for that by modem maker).

For instance, from the modem:

Date Time Event ID Description
11/15/2018 0:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.
11/15/2018 3:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.
11/15/2018 4:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.
11/15/2018 5:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.
11/15/2018 7:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.
11/15/2018 8:58 4000960006 New time has been retrieved from ToD server.

NOTE: is shows as a TIME SYNC and it does 'miss' the hour renew on a 2 hour lease it appears.

As it shows in my router (R8000 and it happened when I had an R7000 as well) on another LOG that was emailed to me:

[Time synchronized with NTP server] Saturday, Nov 17,2018 03:47:07
[Internet connected] IP address: 67x, Saturday, Nov 17,2018 03:47:06
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Saturday, Nov 17,2018 02:23:38
[Internet connected] IP address: 67x, Saturday, Nov 17,2018 02:23:37
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Saturday, Nov 17,2018 00:54:03
[Internet connected] IP address: 67.x, Saturday, Nov 17,2018 00:54:03
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Friday, Nov 16,2018 23:31:25
[Internet connected] IP address: 67.x, Friday, Nov 16,2018 23:31:24
[Time synchronized with NTP server] Friday, Nov 16,2018 22:00:52
[Internet connected] IP address: 67.x, Friday, Nov 16,2018 22:00:52

During this time I never did lose a connection however.

What shows for LEASE time on the router of the WAN IP Address:

Connection Status

IP Address 67.x
Subnet Mask 255.255.248.0
Default Gateway 67.x
DHCP Server 10.x
DNS Server 75.114.81.2
209.18.47.62
Lease Obtained 0 days,1 Hours,40 Minutes
Lease Expires 0 days,0 Hours,18 Minutes

Approximately 2 hours, 1/2 the time the router will try to renew the lease.

From a PC's IPCONFIG (Windows) command you can see the PC has a 24+ hours lease:

Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, November 17, 2018 10:22:21 AM
Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Sunday, November 18, 2018 10:33:10 AM

Check the same data on your network, it should point to where the 'problem' is?

Re: r7800 Internet connected IP address messages

cheers,  the lease from the ISP is set at 10 minutes.  Makes no sense to me why it's set so short. It does explain everything.  Thank you very much. Smiley Happy
