r7900p 1.4.1.68 firmware upgrade breaks ipv6

just upgrade my r7900p to 1.4.1.28_1.3.28 and ipv6 will no longer configure.  I cannot manually enter dns addresses and getting them from the ISP returns the nonsense you see in the screen.  I have factory reset and can reload previous config but the moment I hit apply it does to this unde nonsense.  I have also reloaded the new firmware all to no effect.

Here is screen shot:

What firmware are you actually trying to upload?

there isn't a 1.4.1.28 for the r7900P that I could find.

Did you try downgrading the firmware? maybe it did cause an issue.

fyi, uploaded photos can take several days to post as a moderator has to approve them. You can add them right away by clicking on "choose file" and adding them that route.

Greetings,

He's just made a typo. I'm sure he's referring to 1.4.1.68

I've just upgraded to .68 on my R8000P which shares the same version, however IPv6 is working here.

Re: r7900p 1.4.1.68 firmware upgrade breaks ipv6

yes it was a typo I entered on the version number in the msg (it was correct in the subject line).  Turns out I had to do a hard reset (a simple reloading of the saved config file didn't fix the problem) and reload my entire configuration.  I've increasingly noticed that firmware upgrades now almost always require this which is really really annoying especially given how hard Netgear makes it to get to the router web interface instead of using their stupid "dumb user" interface.

Currently the only way I can get to the router web interface is to actually disconnect the internet connection.  Is there some trick to get to the router UI after a hard reset?  Currently I enter the default router IP address 192.168.1.1 after a hard reset but that ends up sending you to their server-based interface unless I physically disconnect the internet connection.  How do I easily get to the router UI if I want to do a manual configuration or simply reload a pre-existing configuration file?

I have the same issue after updating firmware to 1.4.1.68 on R7900P. Reset to factory settings via UI and reset button on the rear panel didn't help.

Re: r7900p 1.4.1.68 firmware upgrade breaks ipv6

I ended up being forced to do a hard reset via the power up physical reset process and then re-loading my router from stored configuration file.  Not a happy camper.

It may be some time before the images land. To ensure that you aren't posting anything naughty, a Netgear moderator has to approve the pictures.

You can attach images to messages without any delay.
