Bandwidth requirements permitting, a single Gigabit Ethernet connection into the router can be sufficient. It's not mandatory to have any LAG or port aggregation between the switch and router.

You do, if you expect to use it on the connection between the GS808E
and your "my router".  So far as I know, the R7000 lacks that feature,
so I don't see how you could use it for a link between these devices.

Whether such a faster link would actually help you is another
question.  The WAN/Internet port on the R7000 would still be a single
gigabit interface.  Even if you could do it, what would such a faster
router-switch link do for you?

@antinode a R7000 has multiple GbE ports plus a WAN plus two WLAN interfaces - so plenty of channels which might require more than one Gigabit channel.

You do not “Need” it and I use the uplink port to connect to my router. I actually use the port aggregation on the switch to connect my NAS that has 2 Ethernet ports configured for aggregation. There nothing that says you need to port aggregation at all and there are default configurations without it enabled.
