security in no managable switchs

hello

normaly we use managable switch to change config  in order to not take car, 60 miles

but all administrators change switch in their office, after take car, 60 miles etc (time lost)

so i think managable switch is not good (just to see on or off on the map!), price too

security is not the job of the switch, do you think is good to buy no managable switch ?

Re: security in no managable switchs

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge. Routers and switchers don't have much in common.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Discuss Ethernet Switches Plus and Pro Managed

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

Re: security in no managable switchs

If the nework or router your trying to configure doesn't need any kind of switch management then of course, you can use a non managed swtich. Just for traffic pass thru and if thats all you need to gain access to the router remotely, then a non managed switch would be preferred to use. No need to have anything addtionally in the path to the router. Un-managed switch are easy to connect and pnp. No configurations needed on them. Security is configured at the endpoints (PC/Router) if and when this is needed.
