Which router. N600 is a (slow) wifi speed designation, not a model number.

Which router have you switched to AP mode? If it is the R7000, then I am surprised that it worked at all in router mode. Two routers on the same network is a recipe for trouble.

But not knowing you network layout that is just a guess on my part.

I do hope the other router is not so old that it has LAN ports that run at 100 Mbps. Connecting anything to that will slow things down. It is slower than your Internet link. Then again, you haven't said what that is either.

Re: slowing down my internet speed

When i hook up my pc to WNDR3700 i get speed of 110 which is good i guess. But for some reason my nighthawk R7000 slows down my speed 12mbps. It help alot when i switch to AP Mode. I just did a test speed and i got 101. So is that a good speed?

Re: slowing down my internet speed

Sorry Michael,

It's not a n600 it's a C3700.

Re: slowing down my internet speed

OK, so, as I understand it, the modem is the C3700. It is really a Cable Modem Router.

If you use the WNDR3700 you get 110 Mbps. (Is that wifi?)

If you use the R7000 in router mode you get 12 Mbps.

If you use the R7000 in access point mode you get 110 Mbps.

If this is wifi, 110 Mbps. maybe the best you will get. That depends on the wifi clients.

If you are using the C3700 as a modem/router, then you could also consider putting it in modem only mode.

There is a manual for the C3700 somewhere at the end of this link:

See page 11.
