i have the c7000-100nas combo and it seems to like the 2.4 band but the 5ghz band is alway 1 bar less that the 2.4ghz band. plus i have heard that turning off the router on the c7000-100nas and installing another router gives me better security. but aside from that if it is true i an wondering if it would do any good to get a router and use the router for the house and just use the c7000-100nas as a modem? and if so would the ac2400-100nas do a better job for range and mayby an added layer for home secruity? also i have 16 cameras going on my home network ported to see out of the home network. any ideas?
i do have a question about the fvs318 vpn going as a added security layer as well but i do not know if those need a purchased vpn service or if they are the vpn by themselves.
thanks bp.

Are "bars" what matter most to you? On which band do you get better
performance?

It would give you a different router. Whether that "another router"
would work better might depend on what that "another router" actually
is. I'm certain that you could find one which was worse in many ways
than the one in a C7000[v1]. You could probably find a better one, too.
(For some values of "better".)
