wired connection keeps dropping out

My computers wired connection keeps pausing on the router upto several times a minute.  I have tried other router ports and problem remains.  If I hook the computer directly to my cable modem the connection remains stable.  I cannot find any settings in the mobile app or on the netgear genie to prevent this from occurring.

Try replacing the ethernet cable to see if that helps?

R6400 or R6400v2? 

Reason I ask is that the R6400v2 recieved the netgear armor update. it didn't go well for everyone. many fixed the issues with a simple factory reset and manual re-install. some have had to downgrade the firmware to prior to armor and reinstall. 

So which version are you on?

I have the r6400 V2

firmaware version:  1.0.4.84_10.0.58

xfinity cable modem

should i go through the factory reset and not update the firmware?

The version of firmware that you're on supports netgear armor. If you haven't, I'd start off with a factory reset and try that. 

if you still get the same issue, you can try downgrading to prior to armor. should be version 1.0.3.66.

what xfinity modem are you using? Some are combo devices which would put you in a double nat and could be causing your issue and not netgear armor.

I did the factory reset; however, I am not sure how to roll back firmware.  regardless things are stable now.  If the problem crops up again i will check the cable modem settings and ensure it is setup as a bridge to remove the double NAT.
