If the xfinity gateway is showing it connected, some type of setup went on. Either using wps, using the app, or using the assistant.
The client connect light comes on when a device connects to it. And that devices is a mesh device. Meaning it uses the same ssid as the router and allows devices to roam between it and the router. so it won't show up as seperate. And if a device hasn't roamed to it, nothing is going to show for a client
If the gateway is showing it connected, it'll have an ip address for it. You can use that ip address to connect to the extender.

Re: AX1800 Extender wont connect
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the WiFi Extender products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with WiFi Extender products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you.

Re: AX1800 Extender wont connect
What extender do you have?
AX1800 is a speed, not a model.
Did you hit the wps prior to trying the installation assistant?
