Broken internet port??
absolutely disappointed at the horrible quality of the rax30 i had bought a few months ago. now, the internet will randomly disconnect because the port is broken, forcing me to unplug and replug the cable back in 5 times to get it to work again, only for the port to break again an hour later. its disgusting that these companies demand money for these glorified paperweights that become ewaste within 6 months. i have no intention of buying netgear going forward. get your **bleep** together for the love of god.

Re: Broken internet port??
Might be a firmware issue that disconnects and by physically re-attaching the cable, it can restore operation only to disconnect again after some time. This has been seen many times here on the forum.

Re: Broken internet port??
Usually if the port is bad, no amount of plugging/unplugging is going to fix it.
So I'd be looking at something else. Either a cable (but usually same it true) or even what its connected to.
what modem/gateway is the router connected to?

As others have said, a broken ethernet port is not likely to be the reason for an intermittent Internet connection.
So you might want to look for other reasons for this behaviour. You could start by dealing with the usual boilerplate questions.
What firmware version do you have on the device?
A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.
It might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router, if there is one. The make and model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?
You could also tell people what symptoms you see. Why do you unplug the cable?
By the way, a good way to break a cable connection is to keep on unplugging it. The usual strategy is to "plug and forget".
