I just want my external HD show up on the home network
I'm not tech savvy at all. I just want to plug my external Hard Drive into my RAX120's USB port and have that hard drive show up on the home network so my computers can access it at will. I'm not interested in any of this Readyshare garbage. You'd think this should be really easy. Any help anyone? Am I asking too much?

In that case, forget about plugging your storage into the router. (Think of it like wanting to use a car with the wheels removed.)
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
and feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Read the section in the manual Share USB Storage Devices Attached to the Router.
