NTP - Time Server Sync Frequency
Pfter checking my router logs, it appears that the router is synchronising the time with the Netgear NTP server every 30minutes & sometimes only 5minutes after a sync.
Is this expected ??
1 time a day would seem enough to me or even once a week. Id hope the router could keep a reasonable time sync over this short period of time?

No, completely wrong. The NTP time sync happens every time the router does connect to the Internet successfully. Best guess, you use an Internet onnection requiring authentication, and the router is configured with a Idle Timeout and Connect on Demand. This is wht kills your Internet connection, and when the next time Internet connection is required, the router does dial-up, and the NTP time sync follows.

My RAX80 does that also.
Every 24hrs and on power up would be a more normal interval to check the RTC is accurate.
I did report this issue a month or so ago but like most problems with the RAX80 they don't get fixed.
My one is no longer in use and I have gone back to my old one.

If you get the pairs of "[Internet connected]" and "[Time synchronized with NTP server]" your router does (or did) connect to the Internet only if traffic is requesting it. Otherwise the connection does timeout as configured. The reason why it does happen - unless you have a router that is crashing and rebooting - is very clear, and not an issue.

Seems pretty stupid to me to keep making requests on time servers that often.
Do the internals clocks really need setting that often?
Still their product in recent times have been pretty poor.

I see no reason why the box should make a NTP request everytime it establishes an internet connection.
Once every 24hours is fine once the time has been set (not the year 1970).
Sloppy programming I guess.

The household uses internet heavily & has lots of connected devices which was the main reason for wanting the Wi-Fi6 router.
I'll check my modem/router logs tonight to see if it is shows any IP reassignement or internet connection information.
My modem is also assigning the network IP addresses so the RAX80 is in access point mode.
I found a similar post in an old forum for the R8000 router & there was an reply from a Netgear support saying that a time sync every hour was a function of the router.

My one does it more than every hour but it can't even manage to save device type icons plus of course their android app uses diffent device icons. One would think it was designed / programmed by two teams with different product specifications.
