Netgear Nighthawk RAX50V2 - Access Denied Bug SOLVED SOLUTION

I ran into the issue of not being able to log in to my router's GUI. I looked all over these forms for a solution, many saying just factory reset to resolve the issue.

I then did some more searching and figured out the solution is to downgrade the firmware from 1.1.4.28 to 1.1.3.18. To do so you must first disconnect the WAN connection to access the router web GUI. Then go to Advanced>Administration>Router Update. Upload the old firmware file which can be found here. Make sure after to disable automatic software updates or else you will have to do this again. Still after a year, somehow Netgear has not released a new firmware update to fix this. What a massive headache this was. I'm hoping anyone else with the same problem can find this thread and eventually a new firmware update can be released soon

After updating fw, factory reset with the router DISCONNECTED from the ISP services. Setup and get to the home page, once there, then re-connect to the ISP service. Should be good there.

Ya. Passed this onto NG. No idea if or when they will do anything.

Can do a factory reset and set up from scratch with the router OFFLINE from the ISP services and setup from scratch with v.28 FW loaded to keep the router up to date. Then connect to the ISP services. I saw this same issue on my v2. After the FR and setup from scratch, have not seen this issue again. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-with-WiFi-6-AX-and/New-RAX41-42-43-50-54-V2-Firmware-Vers...

Surely the new FW is usable, but the issue will persist. As soon as you connect it to the internet you will no longer be able to login to the router unless you disconnect it from the internet.

No its usable. I've had my RAX50v2 off and back online a couple of times since the first time I saw this and FR and setup on v.28 FW. Never saw that NG Account log in again. Does seem like v.28 introduces it but the FR clears it. Just have to FR and setup from scratch with the router not connected to the ISP services. Once setup completes after the FR, then reconnect and you'll be fine. The setup from scratch I used was with a wired PC and web browser. MS Edge. Skipped any registration action while setting up. Has not re-appeared on my v2.

Interesting because when I downgraded the FW I forgot to turn off automatic updates and the router updated itself and the problem came back.

Ah okay so what you're trying to say once you update to 1.1.4.28 that preforming a FR solves this issue. I had already tried that before even attempting to downgrade and it didnt work for me. Regardless we need a new firmware update ASAP
