Netgear router in AP mode sending out SSDP packets with a public IP address

Netgear, you have a bad SSDP bug.  When my RAX50 and RAX54 are in AP mode -- and on my LAN with a 192.168.1.XXX IP address -- the AP's are sending out SSDP packets with a incorrect source IP address (a public IP address out there in the Internet).

No idea where the router is getting that IP address (it maps to Amazon), as that is not an IP address within the range of my ISP, and there is no cable connected to the WAN port of these AP's.

And now this is getting 10 times worse.  The Netgear Router (in ap mode) is actually responding to that IP address!

What other public IP addresses are Netgear devices intercepting?

Is this a V1 RAX50?

If so, can you load up more resent FW and give your findings and results?

Re: Netgear router in AP mode sending out SSDP packets with a public IP address

.128 FW still has an issue:  RAX50 running V1.0.15.128_2.0.89 thinks it is 75.2.84.193

have not checked SSDP and other items, but fact Router responds to "75.2.84.193" (tracert) is very problematic.  Wireshark trace shows this coming from MAC address of AP.

Re: Netgear router in AP mode sending out SSDP packets with a public IP address

And a factory reset and setup from scratch as performed after the FW update then configured for AP mode?

What is the brand and model host router that the RAX are connected too while in AP mode?

And brand and model if ISP modem or ONT that your using?

And curious if you have any Amazon devices on your network by chance.

.128 breaks UPnP queries.  I reverted back to .120 and UPnP works again.  Looks like Netgear messed up .128 FW.

AP to Netgear R7800 main router to Spectrum provided ES2251 modem.  No amazon devices in network.

Re: Netgear router in AP mode sending out SSDP packets with a public IP address

Something to open a support ticket and let NG know about the RAX in AP mode and uPnP issues seen in recent FW:

https://www.netgear.com/home/wifi/mesh/orbi/
https://my.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
https://www.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
Then clicking on "Get answers about NETGEAR products before I buy" then clicking on "Networking for Home" then "Chat with us".
