Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

Several times a week I have to reboot my router.  All the lights show it is woking, however; I won't have internet.  A few days ago it seemed to do a factory reboot by itself and I had to repogram all my connected devices (smart connect was on, but still had to enter passwords).

Try a PC using ethernet cable attached to one of the 4 LAN ports.  Although, if that works, it just confirms wireless has a problem.

At any rate, best to just return it and exchange it for another for the least hassle.

My 1st RAX50 was similar, I did return it for a refund (BB)  and just bought another RAX50 a month later (at an even better sale price), just to be sure it came from a different batch.  it's been up non-stop with heavy usage from a wide range of various devices for 3 or more months now.

What modem/gateway do you have?

What firmware is on the router?

is it only wireless devices or do wired devices drop as well?

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

When it drops does it say "connected, no internet" ?

Or how exactly does it drop?

Do the led's go out?

Correct, connected no internet.  And, all the lights show it is working on the router.

When its saying "connected, no internet", are you still able to access the router gui and ping the gateway or access the gateway?

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

No, I cannot access via nighthawk app. I can see connected devices with "connect anywhere" but it shows it as offline.

actually, I did try that earlier this week while I was out of town.  I could not connect, don't remember exactly what it showed/said

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

Not while you're out of town. while you're home on your network. we're trying to see if the router is still talking to the gateway when it goes offline

I can't be on my network if the internet is down.  I have to use my cellphone to connect to browser.

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

You said it shows "connected, no internet". this implies the router is working.

The next time it goes down, use a pc/laptop for connection to the router. See if you can access its gui through the browser. If you can, then try to access the gateway through the browser. the link I posted earlier with your ont info has a manual on accessing it.

Again, I understand its offline. But we're trying to determine what device is going off line.

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

I'm not sure I understand your instructions.  If it is down, my pc will not connect to anything.  All I can see is what is on my desktop.  If I try to go out to the web, I get the dinasaur picture that says no internet.  I can use my cell phone to access a browser.

Re: Nighthawk RAX 50 have to reboot several times a week

So, it just went down again. I could not connect to anything. Part of it could be I still really don't understand your last instructions. I typed in the IP address for both the Gateway and for the router it will not connect to anyting.
I am not sure if Netgear people check Community messages. But, this is piss poor. The router is still under warranty but they want me to pay for support. This tells me they don't really back up their products. At this point I have spent hours on this problem. I will not spend any more I will return it get my money back and buy a different router from a different company
