Of course it could be a Simplisafe problem as well.
Its probably not going bad but that is a super base model AC750 extender. Its 2.4ghz throughput isn't going to be great because its a dual band extender (no dedicated backhaul). meaning its 2.4ghz is going to max out around that 30-40mbps if you're fairly close to it. How many camera's do you have? the 2.4ghz is sensitive to interference and if you're running a lot of cameras, it can cause issues.
What I'd try if it was me? Pickup a triband extender like the EX7500, EX7700, EX8000. They can be snagged pretty cheap used. They have a dedicated backhaul that keeps 2.4ghz throughput higher. During setup, uncheck the "extend 2.4ghz signal". This prevents it from using the 2.4ghz as a failover (still works for devices to connect to). With it in the failover option selected, it has the 2.4ghz on the same channel as the routers, so there can still be interference. With it disabled, you can set the 2.4ghz channel separate from the router. This allows you to have the router and the extenders 2.4ghz on different channels. You could balance out the camera's so some are on the router with others on the extender. That'd help prevent interference and keep throughput high.

There's 3 cameras on the extender. The other 3 are on the main router.
Do you have to have a mesh network to use the extenders you mentioned? I don't have a mesh network, though maybe I should.
