After multiple talks with Alta and Best Buy I purchased the nighthawk 11000. The tech came and installed it and he said it’s not getting the full 2 gig, but you might have to do something in the nighthawk app. Took his word for it, but still on my test it shows about 950mbps. Logged into my router login and it shows the green light next to the 1 gig port. I then checked the back of the router and seen that the only thing connected was the cable to the internet port and nothing in the 2.5g port. So this had me convinced that this was the issue. Switched ports and can’t get the data light to come on on the Nokia modem, basically telling me I have no WiFi. So any input on this would be helpful on what to do to get my full 2 gig speed that I’m paying for through altafiber. Whether that’s get a different router or anything. There has to be someone with this same issue considering altafiber does not supply a router for the 2 gig plan.
My other question, that I think I’ve figured out doing research, is that on my phone, tv, PlayStation, etc.. when I go to connect to WiFi, it only pops up to connect to the 2.4 and 5g. Not the 6. And I believe this is because my phone, tv, etc.. does not support the 6? So do I really need the full 2 gig if nothing I have supports the full power on the router that I purchased? Or do I need a different router?
Completely new to the tech community, not tech savvy at all, I’m just a steel worker lol.

To start off with, additional details would be helpful. What is the full model number of your Nighthawk device? Something that starts with an R or RA. Look on the nameplate on the device after the words Model Number. The 11000 sounds like part of a marketing label on the box.
What is the full brand name and model number of the Optical Network Terminal supplied with your Altafiber?
On your router, moving the input connection from one port to another was only part of the process. Most likely you will have to log in to your new device and configure the input to match the port where you have the Ethernet cable connected.
Your expectations will fall short if you expect to get throughput over Wi-Fi that is anywhere near your 2 GBps rating on your internet plan.
The model number is RAXE500. I looked on the terminal and I don’t see a model number. I agree I shouldnt expect the full 2 gig, but definitely more than 950mbps, right? And do you know the steps to takes from switching from terminal to terminal, if you think that’s the issue?

This would determine if your ONT is a stand alone terminal or a combination device with a router. Your new RAXE500 connected to an existing router can complicate the configuration. Maybe take a second look for a model number on the ONT.
Depending on how you have your devices configured and how your are testing, 950 Mbps might be the limit.
Go to the Downloads section at the top of this page, feed in your RAXE500 model number and download the user's manual. Steps to configure your multi-gig port start on page 31.
As a word of advice, when you are working with your new router, avoid anything to do with a mobile application. Connect directly to your router with a computer running a web browser. A direct Ethernet connection is best, but a Wi-Fi connection will work if your computer does not have an Ethernet port.
Though the RAXE has a 2.5Gb port that can be configured for either LAN side or WAN side connections, the main WAN port on the RAXE is only 1Gb as are the rest of the LAN ports. So even if you configured the 2.5Gb port for connection to the WAN side, LAN ports are limited to 1Gb so you'll not see much over 900Mpbs here due to this limitation.
Wireless, if you have any 4x4 supporting wifi devices, you could see well over 1Gb speeds that are closer to 2Gb.
To get full 2Gb on WAN and LAN side, you'll need a router that has support for higher than 1Gb on the ports.
Currently Orbi 960 and the announced RS700 both have multi gig WAN and LAN ports.
