RAX200 not letting some devices connect to the internet via wifi.

RAX200 not letting some devices connect to the internet via wifi.

I replaced my NETGEAR 1700 router a few weeks ago with the RAX200. It was fairly easy to set up but over the last couple of weeks I found that my Ring app and my Dish receiver would connect fine to the router but would not access the internet. My Dish receiver would show that it was connected but I couldn't get the Alexa remote and the on-demand functions to work. My ring app would not allow me to access the live or recorded video. If I changed my Wi-Fi connection to the ISP router, I could access the internet and communicate with both. After a lot of trial an error with changing router settings and cable changing, I found a possible solution to my issue:

  • I logged into my router
  • Selected INTERNET tab in the BASIC menu
  • Selected the FIXED IP selection and entered my ISP router IP, SUBNET MASK and GATEWAY information and selected APPLY.
  • Once this was set there was no change in communication with my problem devices.
  • I then switched back to GET DYAMICALLY FROM ISP and then selected APPLY.
  • After the setting was applied, I now have communication with my Dish receiver and my Ring cameras.
  • FW version, V1.0.10.140

Try disabling AX mode on each radio and see if this helps...

Try with Smart Connect disabled...

Thank you, it seems to have reverted back to it no communication issue again. I tried turning off the AX and the Smart connect, and it will actually show the cameras are there but won't communicate with them in Live mode. Dish is back to not communicating.

Re: RAX200 not letting some devices connect to the internet via wifi.

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Re: RAX200 not letting some devices connect to the internet via wifi.

Have not had any luck with any of the suggestions. My ISP will not give any help with 3rd party devices. I have noticed that my issue seems to be with my s21 Galaxy phone.  I can access my cameras with my PC while connected to the RAX200. This doesn't explain why my dish receiver doesn't have connectivity to the internet while connected. I have a feeling that it might be due to the age of the receiver. I can get around it by connecting the receiver to the ISP wireless. Thanks for the help.
