Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Just wanted to tell everyone here that Netgear is currently developing a new firmware for the RAX40! I have been working with them and this weekend I am going to be testing a beta firmware. So hang tight.

Any idea if they're also working on the firmware for the RAX35?

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Hello Ron,
Recently I find it is very consistent that the RAX40 router will drop wifi when I start facetime with my iphone for few minutes. see if you could test it with the beta version and report any issue to netgear, thx
Regards,

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
I tested the new beta a bit this weekend. It is more stable however still doens't work with the EAX20 Extender and my iPhone X was constantly dropping off the Wi-Fi while using Smart Connect. Still ways to go.

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Support doesn't answer at all. Netgear react to user messages. When will the new firmware be released with the elimination of user comments?

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Hello,
I got a new beta a couple of days ago.
As asked by regghk, I have just tried a facetime session (20 min long), and I have not been disconnected or .... (no issue).
(I don't use WPA3 nor smartconnect)
Best regards
Ron

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Ron,
Have you used AX over 5Ghz with the new firmware? I was having random disconnects with that configuration.

Those need to work. I use them and they are still unstable. It's an expensive piece of hardware to not be able to utilize its full potential. If you are submitting debug logs to Netgear, I would turn those options on.

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
This is ridiculous. When will technical support release a solution? I updated my firmware last weekend not knowing about the issue, and now have to do 2 power cycles a day when the WiFi drops.
I even attempted to rollback the firmware which did not solve the issue, but maybe I did not rollback far enough.

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Hi @all
I had almost all the issues mentioned in this post when I upgraded to 1.0.3.80 so not repeating those. I raised an issue with the support and after 2 to 3 weeks to and fro communication with them, they decided to replace my router.
I was aware of the 1.0.3.80 firmware issue from these channels but I decided to give this replacement a try. The device was out of stock for more than a month and got the replacement on 2020-09-09.
Upgraded the replacement router to 1.0.3.80 firmware and Its been 4 days now and I can say that I am not facing any issues with it. Not even one time I had restarted the router and there is no siggnal drop or router been going to a hung state.
I will update if any issues in future, but now I am beleving that the there was a hardware issue.
Any one else in the community tried with the replacement? I think all should try to get a replacement if possible.
Thanks

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
Yeah so probably a hardware component changed. And the firmware development teams are developping on the new hardware. That is why they can not fix it. They can not reproduce it on their devices.

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
I have a RAX35 with 1.0.3.80 firmware and my router just completely froze on me again requiring a power cycle. Only one device was browsing the internet so the internet load was very low. The router information page says its hardware version R1.05. The router is less than a year old and still under hardware warranty but out of technical support. Should I try to RMA the device?

Re: RAX40 Firmware 1.0.3.80 Crash/Bug Log
All this is quite disheartening: I bet on Netgear for their quality by taking also an eax20... if it was a hardware problem, in Italy their support is paid, should I open a support subscription to have my router replaced? No thanks....
