RAX48 Firmware problem. . .locking me out
I've noticed that when accessing firmware settings (RAX48) over my LAN that I can successfully login and change settings after a fresh reboot of the router. If during that session I have ANY problems with setting changes, the browser session stops working and I can't log in again until I do a hard reboot of the router (the pop up prompt for the login fails to appear and the browser eventually times out). It should be noted that the router continues to otherwise function normally, I just can't access settings until a reboot. I've tried 3 different browsers with the same results. It seems that the router firmware is very intolerant of faults of any kind. Is this a known issue? Is it being addressed? Am I doing something wrong? Not my first router. Thanks in advance! --Rob

Re: RAX48 Firmware problem. . .locking me out
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

A classic symptom of what can happen when adding a router (your RAX48) to a modem/router.

Re: RAX48 Firmware problem. . .locking me out
The RAX48 is running firmware v1.0.11.112, which I believe is the latest version.
The RAX48 is connected to directly to the ONT (Verizon FIOS) with CAT5 cable (not a modem / ONT). I don't believe there's a cabling problem, as I made it (cable) myself and tested the connectors on each end and have been using it for a few years without issue. I've tried connecting to the RAX48 via WIFI as well as with a wired connection with the same results.
I did reset and restore a backup config (known to work) a few days ago. The router DOES work, but as stated earlier, if something goes wrong with a setting change then it prevents getting back into it until it's rebooted.

Not advised when you experience problems with a router.
Restoring may simply revive the bug that has bitten you.
If the behaviour has started with new firmware, then rolling back to an earlier version could help.

Re: RAX48 Firmware problem. . .locking me out
This "bug" has existed since the day I bought it 6+ months ago and through at least one firmware update. Since the router's basic functions were working, I didn't bother complaining about it until now. I can work around it, but if it could be fixed, that would be great.

CAT5 isn't rated for 1000mpbs. Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.
Factory reset with out using the backup configuration file is recommended. I might manually re-load the FW file on to the router. Do this with the router disconnected from the ONT. After the router is reloaded with FW. Factory reset the router and setup from scratch.
Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200 as well.

Re: RAX48 Firmware problem. . .locking me out
UPDATE: The RAX48 resides on my wife's home-office desk where her laptop sits mere inches away from the RAX48. I accidentally noticed that when she moved her laptop away from the router, or if she closed the laptop, I was able to get into the RAX48 settings reliably. I believe the proximity of her laptop to the router was causing my issue of unreliable connectivity to the firmware. It seems like an unlikely answer to the problem, as the router seemed to function normally in all other ways (except for accessing settings). A fluke? I don't know. . .is this just an anomaly? Time will tell. Thanks for all your comments.
