Purchased nighthawk AX5400. Ran into installation problem that suggested I call for support. Was told error was associated with to many devices attached to system. Was told that that I was going to be referred to a technician that would clean up my system and that I need to protect my IP address with SonicWall firewall which I agreed to purchase. It was sold by Geeks on Line entity. When I went on line to investigate SonicWall I noted that it looked like they sell a device that went in line with system not something that was installed. My question is is Geeks on Line an entity that is associated with NetGear and is SonicWall a firewall that works with Netgear router AX5400? Question is was I scammed?

Which "Geeks" is this? (That's a general label that lots odd people can use.)
Netgear is associated with GearHead, which may or may not call itself a hangout for geeks:
You get 90 days post-purchase free setup support from Netgear. GearHead kicks in after that as a paid for service.

If your "geeks" contact was after making a web search, then there is a good chance that you ended up on a scam site. There are plenty out there that buy search results in a bid to extract money from people.

That sounds like classic scam. I hope you didn't part with any money or, even worse, grant them remote access to your network.
Question is was I scammed?

I was using the Nighthawk application to install and it got me to a point were it told me that it had failed do to an error and to connect with support. Which I did and connected to an individual who said he was Netgear support named Sam. Sam asked what error was incured and told me my system had been compromised and that he was referring me to a technician which could clean my system up and install an IP firewall called SonicWall. I ended up buying a lifetime support for $549. Which went off pending last night. If legal could help it would be appreciated.
