RAXE300 5GHz Keeps dropping on broadcast and slow

RAXE300 - Firmware Version 1.0.8.64

5g keeps dropping out (2.4g is always okay. )

I tried different channels but still the same problem.

Upgraded firmware twice,
went back 1 version of firmware.
Factory reset
Same issue after a few days of use.

I have scanned the wifi band 5g around me with a mobile app and selected none crowded channels.

Devices to 2.4g and have no problems but limited to slow download speeds and so buying a £350 router for high speed 5g and 6 has been a waste of money for me so far.
Any help appreciated -
( my old R7000  was solid for years and i regret spending all this money now which i did as I work from home and tried improve the network for my work and my kids )
thanks

set your speeds at "up to 2400mbps".

When its set for "up to 4800mbps" it has to be 160hz wide and that uses the dfs channels.

If something is broadcasting on those channels, they have to switch off them and that can cause drops when it does so.

If you're in an area with DFS, I'd avoid those channels for stability.

Setup:

All separate SSIDs for bands 2,5 + 6 , all broadcast

Enable 20/40/ MHz Coex - not selected

No Guest networks
No A security activated

No QoS

OFDMA on for 2.5 + 5

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) - NETGEAR Communities

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Re: RAXE300 5GHz Keeps dropping on broadcast and slow

What actual channel do you have selected for the 5ghz?

Make sure to avoid any dfs channels as you can get drops if there's radar in your area.

Its only the 5ghz? 2.4 and 6ghz are fine?

Re: RAXE300 5GHz Keeps dropping on broadcast and slow

thank for the reply ,

Its only 5GH and channel = 06 , mode up to 600Mps

2.5 + 6 appear to be fine

There is no Channel 06 on 5GHz. That's 2.4 GHz.

5GHz runs from 36 upwards.

Glad you got it stable. Must have some dfs channels broadcasting in your area.
