Readyshare USB 3.0 storage device on a RAX50 router
Where can I get a list of compatible storage devices that work on the USB 3.0 slot for the RAX50 modem? I tried a Western Digital 4TB drive but it was not recognized by the modem?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for
"USB device requirements".
I know approximately nothing about your (unspecified) "a Western
Digital 4TB drive", but I would not be amazed if it arrived configured
with an exFAT file system (which I don't see in the list in the manual).
Even a "compatible" device can be configured with an incompatible file
system.
For the RAX50, any device that works at plug and play mass storage. For example a flash drive, external hard drive, USB hard drive dock, etc.
Anything that needs special drivers to work, or uses a less compatible and slower access method such as MTP, will not work.
I currently use a USB 3.0 hard drive dock, and will use various bare drives with the router. For example, it works fine with my 8TB WD Red (WD80EFBX), as well as a 4TB WD red, but I ultimately settles back on my old WD green drive since the red drives get rather hot if you do not have active airflow over it.
Anyway, Netgear does not go out of their way to block and drive support, thus a wide range of storage devices will work, as long as they are relatively plug and play.
Hi, I have recently installed an AX1800 ( RAX20-100cns) and attached a WD 12 TB Easystore drive to the USB port. It connects and transfers trouble free but slows down after and hour or so until it crashes the router. For example, I was transfering a 3 tb directory and started moving the files ( large image files about 20 mb ) less than a second per file. After an hour it was moving them at 10 sec per file and then within the next hour it would be 30 sec per file and ultimately would crash.
The drive and file structure seems compatible. It there something in the firmware that is recording files to the point it fills the routers memory ?

So, all different hardware, and a different complaint. Why add your
entirely different problem to this existing thread (which is already
marked as "Solved")? Why not start your own thread for your own,
different problem? When you do that, you might want to include some
basic information, like:Router firmware version
File system on the external storage device
"transfers" how, exactly?
What "crashes the router" means to you
