Replacement router
I current have a R6400 router. My ISP is offering a 1 gig connection to the home. My R6400 doesnt go that high on the Wan port. Which Netgear router would be best to support this 1 gig connection to allow 1 gig from isp to 1 gig hardwire ethernet port from router to computer.
I was looking at the RX35 or 40 for a replacement would this be a good choice ?
Any other suggestions ?
Thanks

Re: Replacement router
The R6400 can hit gigabit speeds over wired connections.
Just not wireless.
when they upgrade you reset the R6400 back to factory. during the reinstall leave qos, access control, traffic monitoring, and parental controls all disabled or those will drop the speeds below gigabit.
also in AP setup: RAXE500->EAX80
1.4gig download/50mbps upload from Xfinity

@plemans has given you the best answer to the original question. Bit it you are really lusting after a new router, and want to use the new service as an excuse, for get about the speed and look at the other things you want to achieve. Maybe better WiFi?
Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:
Wireless Routers for Home | NETGEAR
WiFi Range Extenders: Boost Your WiFi Range | NETGEAR
and
Orbi: Whole Home WiFi System for Better WiFi Everywhere | NETGEAR
Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.
My first move would be to stick with the existing router, follow what @plemans suggests and see how that works out.

Re: Replacement router
Hi all,
Thanks with the replies. I tried setting my router back to factory and reconfiguring it. Same results I cannot get better than 250mbs. I have this router since 2016 I guess it about time to replace it.
I have checked all my ethernet cords and they are good, I can plug them from my computer to the ISP router and get 1Gig no problem. My network is mainly hard wired except for a couple of wifi connections.

Sounds like sensible thinking. But I would worry that replacing the R6400 could still end up in the same place.
Maybe the existing equipment that connects you to the ISP is the issue.
What is the "ISP router"?If it is an ONT (optical link), maybe you don't need ISP the router.
And if it really is a router, then the R6400 may be fighting over control.

Re: Replacement router
what modem/gateway is it connected to?
When you reset the R6400 back to factory, did you test it with the defaults? Try that first before reinstalling. And don't reinstall from a backup configuration.
