Switching from PPPoE to IPOE

Switching from PPPoE to IPOE

When switching from PPPoE to IPOE/DHCP, does the netgear allow to still do the vlan tagging? Quantum support/and the router they setup for me, has IPOE with vlan 201, however they did also give me IPOE login credentials.

(I moved from centurylink to quantum last month, and my linksys doesn't allow vlan tagging on mesh networks)

Which Netgear device are you using?

Currently have Linksys Velop, so looking for a replacement now. Prefer mesh with 3+ Ethernet ports each

You want help to pick a new router?

(We aren't mind readers.)

Try plugging your needs into the filters on the product pages:

Wireless Routers for Home | NETGEAR

Then check back here for reports on the things you are considering, but remember that people turn up in this community with problems, not compliments. So look at reviews on Amazon, for example.

Re: Switching from PPPoE to IPOE

IPOE or DHCP with vlan tagging isn’t something normally listed under product features.

The sales concierge/chat team also isn’t familiar and suggested reaching out to the community.

Of the 1440 documents from Netgear on my system only one mentions IPOE. That's the Data Sheet for the D2200D ADSL Gateway from 2014.

285, overwhelmingly modems and modem/routers, mention PPPoE.

I wonder about the basic question.

Once again, we have incomplete information.

What is this router Quantum setup for you? Maybe it is a modem or modem/router.

Re: Switching from PPPoE to IPOE

current setup: Centurylink (Fiber) Casa ONT -> C4000BZ -> Linksys Velop (bridge mode)

before CL switched from PPPoE to IPOE I was using ONT -> Velop with no issues. (PPPoE on the velop)

 - I'm not finding any mesh networks that list IPOE as a WAN connection type. DHCP is normally the solution, however CL/Quantum/Lumen require the VLAN tag in most regions. (DHCP with VLAN tagging is not a common feature)

needs:

Mesh - preferably with 3+ ethernet ports on each node

IPOE connection type (username, password, VLAN in my case 201) [PPPoE using same information does not work, and DHCP/auto does not work)
